Vitsebsk human rights have activist appealed the decision of the Tsentralny district court of Minsk.

This morning, Vitsebsk human rights activist Pavel Levinau appealed the decision of Andrei Dziankevich, a judge of the Tsentralny district court of Minsk, who refused to open a case against the Ministry of Information for blocking the Charter-97 website. Pavel Levinau filed a complaint with the Minsk City Court.

The human rights activist has told Charter97.org about it.

Pavel Levinau believes that the blocking of Charter97.org is a direct violation of his rights to receive information and is an unacceptable restriction of freedom of thought and expression, which contradicts the provisions of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights and the Constitution of Belarus.

As the human rights activist informed Сharter97.org, if the Minsk city court leaves the decision in force, he will file a complaint with the UN Human Rights Committee for violation of the right to receive information and access to justice.
