Tamara Siarhei: We Will Decide Which Information We Want To Get

The authorities showed own lack of confidence, having blocked Charter'97.
Lawyer, coordinator of the initiative "Against Lawlessness in Courts and Prosecutors Offices" Tamara Siarhei said this, commenting upon the blocking of Charter97.org in Belarus:
- You know, any blocking, restriction of people in obtaining information is to the detriment of our country. I have heard at the highest levels on many occasions that the Belarusians are very educated, and this means that we ourselves can decide what information we want to receive and which we don't.
When I found out that the website Charter97.org was blocked, I immediately thought that this shows that the authorities lack self-confidence and are afraid of something. Obviously, the Charter'97 blockage says that not everything is good in the state.
The website Charter97.org is blocked, while the Russian media feel at home in Belarus. This is very dangerous for us.
Blocking an independent website will only help to improve this "comfort".
I do not see the implementation of a real national policy in the country, but only then it will be safe in Belarus.
Officially, there is a state called the Republic of Belarus. But, unfortunately, despite the decades of supposedly independent state, we still do not have a national policy, which should begin with the birth of a child and continue in the kindergarten, school, university. It must fill the whole life of a person.
The reality is that the Russian media, Russian national policy feel very confident and calm in Belarus.
I want to emphasize that the independent media will be blocked in the country until the national Belarusian policy is conducted.
I am solidary with the team of Charter97.org and its readers. At the end of the day, before going to bed, I always read the whole section of events that occurred in Belarus and the world on Charter97.org. This is very important and valuable. I know that so many do also. Personally, I very much like to read new items related to a healthy lifestyle.
Definitely, the blocking of Charter97.org is a loss for so many. In our civil initiative, literally everyone who has a computer is a reader of the Charter'97.
Get back!
