The prosecutor's office opened a criminal case.

Searches were carried out in the Polish organizations of Brest - the Brest Forum of Polish Local Initiatives and the Polish School, Belsat reports.

The day before, the prosecutor's office of the Brest region opened a criminal case on the fact of "glorification of war criminals."

The Polish-Belarusian diplomatic scandal has flared up in recent days. Belarus expelled Polish consul to Brest Jerzy Timofeyuk for taking part in the celebration of the Day of the Damned Soldiers. On this day, the Poles honor the memory of the Home Army soldiers who did not lay down their arms after the victory over Nazism but continued to fight the communists for an independent Poland.

The Belarusian side draws attention to the fact that in the ranks of these soldiers was a detachment of Romuald Rice "Brown." He was noted for war crimes in the Bialystok region: he burned five Belarusian villages and killed several dozen people on ethnic grounds.

According to the prosecutor's office, in Brest, young people in the form of Polish scouts sang songs and recited poems, glorifying war criminals, including Rice-"Brown."

After the expulsion of the Polish consul, the Polish Foreign Ministry announced that it would send a Belarusian diplomat out in return.
