Dmitry Bykov: Belarusians Proved They Are Great European Nation

Lukashenka is living out his last moments as a dictator.

Dmitry Bykov, a famous Russian poet and publicist, addressed to the Belarusians through Charter97.org:

- It is always very easy to abuse the hostages. All talks about revolutions not being made with white gloves on, let alone socks, the Belarusian protest having been swept away and Lukashenka outplayed are a horrible platitude. We all know who is the winner in Belarus. We understand that Lukashenka is living out his last moments as a dictator, it's just that moments in history sometimes drag on. I just want to tell our brothers in Belarus that all those who today declare them losers out of lack of determination are cowards and scumbags. And the Belarusians have proven that they are a great European nation.

Recently in the USA, I talked to a huge number of people, including those where there is a huge Belarusian diaspora. For example, there is one in Orlando. So, the Belarusians were joking that if Russia tried to annex Belarus, it would be an outstanding act of liberation for Russia. Because by doing so, Russia would have planted itself a cancerous cage, which would have killed the Russian dictatorship from within. Belarus is indeed ahead of Russia in many respects, and the Belarusians have set an example for us. In fact, Russians can only pray that the Belarusian freedom, the Belarusian despair might infect us, and together we would throw off this idiotic yoke in both countries.

Thank you, friends, for your courage! I wish you victory and forgiveness for those of us who have been sneaking around all these years. But, believe me, most of us are on your side.
