The town is of important strategic importance for the south-eastern front.
Residents in occupied Tokmak, Zaporizhzhia region, heard explosions during the night of December 27. Preliminarily, the explosions occured at the location of Russian soldiers who had been mobilised to go to war against Ukraine.
This was reported by the local Ria-Melitopol Telegram channel. It shared footage obtained from residents of the town temporarily occupied by the Russian Armed Forces.
Eyewitnesses managed to record the sound of one of the explosions. According to the Telegram channel, there were four explosions in total.
The town of Tokmak is not only the geographical centre of south-eastern Ukraine, but also stands at the crossroads of state roads ( Kamianka-Dniprovska - Vasylivka - Tokmak - Berdyansk) and regional roads: ( Novonikolaivka - Orekhiv - Tokmak - Melitopol and Gulyaipole - Polohy - Tokmak - Melitopol).
There is also the railway station of Bolshoi Tokmak of the Pridniprovska railway (located on the Lugansk - Tokmak - Melitopol - Simferopol railway line). The town was occupied by Russian troops in March 2022.
We would like to add: the General Staff confirmed inflicting significant losses on the enemy a few days ago with strikes on the occupier's base in Zaporizhzhia. As many as 100 occupants were killed and wounded then, including those from the FSB ranks.
