The political prisoner has put forward his demands.

Philosopher Uladzimir Matskevich begins a dry hunger strike behind bars. He demands to be released on his own recognizance not to leave, to complete the investigation and set a date for the trial. He started the hunger strike on February 4, six months after his detention. Today is its 12th day. Until yesterday Matskevich was drinking water. He warned that if his demands were not met by the investigating authorities, a dry hunger strike would begin on Tuesday, euroradio.fm reported.

"I knew I had many friends, but their number shown by these circumstances cannot but inspire," the political prisoner said. Rallies in support of Uladzimir Matskevich, who is fighting for his rights, have taken place in various European countries. And he is already aware of it.

Matskevich was charged with "organizing actions grossly violating public order" back in 2021. He is kept in Minsk detention centre No. 1. Colleagues and relatives of Uladzimir Matskevich are worried about his health. He feels weak and has difficulties answering letters.

The Protestant pastor has not received permission to visit Matskevich yet.
