Euronews: Belarusian Soldiers Defend Ukraine

Every day about twenty natives of Belarus arrive in Ukraine.

A number of Belarusian citizens who have previously moved to Ukraine or EU countries are arriving in Kiev to defend the city from the Russian troops. Every day about twenty natives of Belarus join a specially formed unit, which acts together with the Ukrainian army and units of territorial defense, reports Euronews.

- I have been living in Kiev since late November 2020, I have got used to the place, I already have a job, I have plans for the future, and then came the war. That's when I decided that I was staying here, that I was already without a homeland and now my new home was being destroyed, so I joined the detachment.

Some of these people had to leave their country after participating in the antigovernment demonstrations of the twenties. They are convinced that they are now standing up for justice.

- Well, how can you stay away when such terrible things are happening? How can I just be at home or somewhere saving and protecting myself, leaving when there is - to put it simply - lawlessness and terrorism going on here? How can one not resist it?

Earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky called on foreign nationals to help the Ukrainian military.
