The arsonist said he doesn't want to see his classmates in captivity or on death lists.
A man has set fire to a military registration and enlistment office in Russia so that conscripts would not be sent to the war in Ukraine. The man who set the fire filmed everything on video. He wanted to destroy the archive with the conscripts' personal files.
The Russian anonymously shared his motives in one of the Telegram channels, reports UNIAN.
He set fire to the military registration and enlistment office in the town of Lukhovitsy, Moscow Region. In addition, the man painted the gate outside the building in the colours of the Ukrainian flag and allegedly wrote that he "will not go to kill his brothers". He doused the front of the military enlistment office with petrol, smashed windows and threw Molotov cocktails at them.
"The aim was to destroy the archive with the conscripts' personal files, it is located in this unit. This should prevent mobilisation in the district. I hope I won't see my classmates in captivity or on death lists," the arsonist said.
He also pointed out that he wants to inspire protesters in the Russian Federation by his action. They should be more determined, said the Russian. If people speak out more actively against the war in Ukraine, the arsonist said, it would break the spirit of the Russian army and government even more.
"Let them ... know that their own people hate them and will turn against them. The ground will soon start burning under their feet, hell is waiting for them at home too," the Russian said.
