It will allow faster delivery of arms to the country.

The US Senate has unanimously passed a bill that would revive the Lend-Lease Program to deliver arms to Ukraine more quickly. During World War II, this programme made it possible to supply armies of the allies promptly.

This is reported by Politico.

According to the publication, lawmakers in the US have resorted to extraordinary tactics and it is a sign that the Russian invasion of Ukraine is a threat to the liberal order. It also shows that the Western world believes that Ukraine can win the fight against the Russian occupiers.

The law was passed amid released evidence of a massacre of civilians by the Russian army in Bucha (Kyiv region). Democratic Majority Leader Chuck Schumer called the mass killings "pure evil".

"When we wantonly kill innocent civilians because of who they are, be it their religion, race or nationality, it is genocide and Putin is guilty of it," he said.

The 2022 Lend-Lease Act in defense of democracy in Ukraine will expedite the transfer of crucial military equipment and other vital materials, cutting red tape. It allows arms to be de facto donated with the possibility that Ukraine will repay the debt later.
