A military expert shares when the city will be liberated.
The entire Donetsk front is under great tension, as the Russian military are trying to force the Ukrainian Armed Forces out of their positions and occupy the entire region.
The military expert, AFU reserve colonel Roman Svitan told about it on the air of Apostrof TV.
He says there are very heavy battles near Donetsk. These are Marinka, Krasnohorivka, Peski, Avdiivka. In the area of Bakhmut, there is also a battle from Horlivka in the south to Seversk in the north.
"We actively hold back the enemy offensive, using 155mm artillery, HIMARS and even aviation, which has begun to pull up there, working with HARM missiles and knocking out the enemy's air defense," the military expert says.
The reserve colonel says once the Donbas is safe from enemy air defenses, aviation will step in there, help the Ukrainian troops, and the AFU should liberate the Donetsk Oblast to the 1991 borders by the end of the year.
"One can enter Donetsk literally within days or weeks. Donetsk is 5-7 kilometers away. If one makes a decision, performs certain maneuvers, pulls up forces and means, then we can already predict fighting in Donetsk soon," Roman Svitan says.
He adds that one of the reasons why the mobilization order was issued in such a hurry in Russia was to close gaps in the Donetsk direction. Ukrainian troops can already enter Donetsk now, at least start movement towards the city.
"Therefore, the first batches of new soldiers will be sent precisely to Donetsk and the area of Lisichansk," the military expert added.
