A new wave of COVID-19 has been detected in Germany.
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz has been diagnosed with the coronavirus infection. He announced this on the X social network on December 18.
"This is obviously not a surprise that I am happy about. My current tests for COVID-19 show two lines. If there are few symptoms, I expect them to be mild, I will just work at the desk at first," Scholz wrote.
Scholz has been sick with COVID-19 before, back in September 2022.
Meanwhile, Deutsche Welle reports that a new wave of COVID-19 is being recorded in Germany.
"In Germany, nobody is scared of coronavirus, because most Germans have been vaccinated and almost everyone has developed some basic immunity against the disease now. However, more and more Germans are getting sick with acute respiratory diseases, including coronavirus disease," the journalists said.
Now the weekly coronavirus incidence rate is 38 patients per 100,000 people.
