Are the Russians preparing for the attacks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine?
After the New Year, in several districts of the Russian capital Moscow, they began to actively cut down the forest. The sites are being prepared for the needs of the Ministry of Defense, including for the installation of air defense systems, the Russian edition of The Insider wrote on March 13.
According to the publication, the sites have been cleared in three districts of Moscow, and air defense systems have already been placed in two of them.
On the experimental fields of the Timiryazev Agricultural Academy, S-400 anti-aircraft missile systems have already been deployed, the newspaper writes. Equipping the site began on December 31, while there was no information about the work anywhere. There was no forest at the site of the experimental fields, so the soil was simply leveled and filled with asphalt. The police forbid photographing the object, but do not hide the fact that these are air defense systems, the article says.
Another object of the Ministry of Defense appeared in the Losiny Ostrov park-reserve. The S-400 air defense system is visible from the windows of one of the residential complexes, the distance from the air defense to residential buildings is about 200 meters, writes The Insider. A radar station is also installed on the site.
The deployment of the site has caused outrage among local residents and environmentalists, the article says. The administration of the reserve responded to one of the activists' inquiries that the work was being carried out “in order to ensure national security and defense”.
In the Pechatniki district, about 100 hectares of forest were cut down in the protected zone of the Kolomenskoye Museum-Reserve, causing great environmental damage, the publication says. The length of the destroyed forest strip was more than two kilometers. The police and workers confirmed to journalists that the work is carried out for defense purposes, precisely, air defense will be placed there.
In addition, the famous Church of the Ascension is located there, and locals fear that it may lose its status as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
