Ukrainian Army Crossed Dnipro River In Kherson Region

The Armed Forces of Ukraine took up positions seven kilometers from an important administrative center.

The Armed Forces of Ukraine managed to enter the left (eastern) bank of the Dnipro River in the Kherson region.

On April 22, Russian milbloggers provided enough geolocated footage to confirm this, according to the analysts of the Institute for the Study of War (ISW, USA).

According to the footage, the Ukrainian forces have established positions on the Dnipro River bank north of Oleshky (7km southwest of Kherson City) and advanced up to the northern outskirts of the settlement on the E97 highway, as well as west of Dachi (10km south of Kherson City)

Also, another ‘commander’ of the Russian Federation claims that Russian forces have lost control over some islands southwest of Kherson.

“The footage also indicates that Russian forces may not control islands in the Kinka and Chaika rivers less than half a kilometer north of the geolocated Ukrainian positions near the Antonivka Bridge,” the ISW analysts wrote.

They noted that Russian milbloggers claimed on April 20 and 22 that Ukrainian forces have maintained positions in the east bank Kherson region for several weeks. The Armed Forces of Ukraine were able to gain a foothold there and establish stable supply lines to these positions, and regularly conduct sorties in the area. This indicates a lack of Russian control over the area, according to the ISW.

It is reported that the Armed Forces of Ukraine may have been able to gain an advantage on the eastern bank of the Kherson region due to the low intensity of artillery fire from the Russian troops. Earlier, some Russian milbloggers complained that they could not conduct heavy fire due to the over-centralization of the Russian military command.

At the same time, most likely, the enemy forces may maintain control over urban areas such as Oleshky and Nova Kakhovka. Russian troops are on the defensive there.
