Ukrainian Army Cuts Corridor To Crimea

The AFU have used a manoeuvre that confused the Russian command.

The AFU have started advancing in Zaporizhzhia Oblast, as well as near Bakhmut and Svatove in the Luhansk direction, the head of the Centre for Military and Legal Studies, Oleksandr Musiyenko, has said.

As he stressed in an interview with Currenttime, the goal of the Ukrainian defenders is to advance towards Mariupol, which would effectively cut off Russian troops and cut off the land corridor to Crimea.

"It is clear that there is an offensive in two or three directions just to disperse the enemy defence forces, to disperse and stretch the front line so that they cannot concentrate on defending only one strike line," the expert noted.

He also notes that if the Ukrainian troops were able to cross the fortified positions of the Russian troops, which they have fortified and mined, this indicates that the AFU movement will continue.

At that, the interlocutor named the goals of the Ukrainian counteroffensive as stretching the occupants' defence line, as well as directly breaching the first and second defence lines and liberating the settlements.

"And the third. Ukrainian troops managed to continue their offensive not in one direction, thereby giving the enemy the prerogative to concentrate their line of defence and defend in only one position, in one direction of movement, rather than in several. This disperses the troops, stretches the line. Therefore, we can say that everything is quite successful for the Ukrainian forces so far," Musiyenko added.

Earlier it was reported that the AFU had liberated the village of Neskuchne in Donetsk Oblast. A Ukrainian flag is already unfurling over the settlement.

The village was liberated by fighters from the 7th Separate Battalion "Arey" of the 129th Brigade of the TR, the 3rd Separate Battalion "Volyn" and other units.

In addition, the Ukrainian military liberated the village of Blagodatne in Donetsk Oblast. In the course of the operation, the AFU fighters encircled the occupants. This was stated by the spokesman of the joint press centre of the Tavricheskiy defence force, Valery Shershen.

The Institute for the Study of War has clarified that the AFU successfully attacked the Russian positions near Avdiivka, as well as advanced in the Zaporizhzhia and Donetsk directions.

Ukrainian forces made gains near Avdiivka as Russian forces continued limited ground attacks on the Avdiivka-Donetsk line as of 11 June.

Geolocation footage shows that Ukrainian forces made advances south of Nevelske (13 km south-west of Avdiivka).
