Where and how the head of the Russian Federation keeps his wealth has been revealed.
The head of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, has amassed a fabulous fortune during his more than 20 years in power. This wealth is divided among several trusted individuals.
Businessman Yevgeny Chichvarkin, who has fled the Russian Federation, told Ukrainian journalist Dmitry Gordon.
"It (Putin's money - ed.) all belongs to someone; someone supervises every penny there... Someone supervises the assets: somewhere buildings, somewhere businesses, somewhere caches, somewhere gold, somewhere deposits in "dark" places, (...) somewhere land. I think there is a lot of land. He is obsessed with land, as we can see," Chichvarkin said.
According to him, several of the dictator's confidants keep an eye on Putin's assets. One of his most famous "wallets" is the musician Sergei Roldugin, who controls an offshore account worth about $2 billion. And that is a tiny fraction of what the dictator has.
A significant part of Putin's wealth, according to Chichvarkin, is the money of his closest oligarchs.
"We agreed with the big oligarchs: 'This part of what you've earned is mine. But let it stay with you for now, but it's mine, and when I need it, I'll tell you where and what to do with it. This evil man with shoulder straps knows it is mine," the businessman explained. He stressed that an oligarch who tries to "jump the gun" on money will be quickly "cleaned up".
