Russia Launches Massive Missile Attack On Ukraine On International Day Of Peace

In the early hours of Thursday 21 September, Russian terrorists launched a massive air attack on Ukraine. Air defence systems were on in the Cherkasy, Khmelnytski and Vinnytsya regions, as well as in Rivne and Kyiv, while explosions occurred in the Kharkiv and Lviv regions.

The attack caused destruction and casualties in various regions.

Cherkasy region

The head of the Cherkasy OVA, Ihor Taburets, reported on the work of the sky defenders on Telegram. He urged locals to observe information hygiene and not to shoot at the military's work.

"Air defence systems are working in the region. Respect information hygiene - do not take photos and do not film the work of our defenders," Taburets wrote.

Later it became known that debris fell in the central part of the city as a result of the work of air defence systems - the object of social infrastructure was damaged.

"Now there are five injured. At least one person is under the rubble," Taburets said.

The Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, Ihor Klymenko, said that a missile strike damaged a hotel building. This caused a fire and also set fire to the market stalls.

A total of 7 people were injured and 10 people were evacuated. One person was rescued from under the rubble. All services are working on the spot, the minister stressed.

Situation in Kharkiv

At least six explosions have been heard in Kharkiv. Russian terrorists attacked the Slobodsky district of the city with S-300 missiles. Two people were injured.

Ukrainian Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko said on Telegram that a warehouse had been destroyed in Kharkiv.

Kyiv

KMVA also reported air defence operations in the capital. Kyiv mayor Vytali Klitschko reported an explosion in the capital's Darnytski neighbourhood, and there was also a call from Holosiivski. In the Svyatoshinski district, electricity and water supplies have been cut. There is destruction. Seven casualties are known in the Darnytski neighbourhood of Kyiv. Three (including a 9-year-old girl) were taken to hospital, while four others received medical attention at the scene.

The KMVA reported that, tentatively, the Russians launched cruise missiles of the type Kh-101/555/55 at Kyiv from about 10 Tu-95MS strategic aviation aircraft. More than 20 enemy targets were destroyed by air defence forces and means over the capital.

Kyiv region

According to Klymenko, falling debris caused fires on the territory of enterprises in the Kyiv region. There was also damage to private property. Two people were injured.

Khmelnytski

There were also explosions in the Khmelnytski region, and air defence systems were also activated in the region, according to the first deputy head of the OVA, Serhiy Tyurin. He urged citizens to stay in shelters.

Strikes on the territory of the Khmelnytski municipality have not yet been recorded, Mayor Oleksandr Simchyshyn said later.

Lviv region

Explosions occurred in the Drohobych district of the Lviv region. Maksym Kozytski, head of the Lviv OVA, wrote on Telegram.

"Two strikes hit an industrial building. The shop caught fire, a three-storey warehouse was destroyed, there is a fire on an area of about 30 square metres," he said.

Another missile strike hit a private two-storey warehouse, the OVA chief said. There is a fire on the area of 20 square metres.

Klimenko said that the strike hit an industrial area, there was destruction and fires.

What is known about other regions

Explosions were heard in Ivano-Frankivsk at around 6.30am.

There were also explosions in Rivne, followed by a power cut in part of the city. Air strikes were reported in the city.

Explosions were also heard in the Vinnytsia region, Suspilne reported.
