Students who pay for their education will go under assignment nevertheless.

Head of Lukashenka’s administration Ihar Siarheyenka confirmed that compulsory assignments will be introduced for students who pay for their education, and the period of work under assignment for public sector employees will be increased.

Siarheyenka explained that students-payers allegedly reimburse only 40% of the actual cost of education. This means that the state has the right to require them to work.

“There was a buzz on the Internet about possible work under state assignments for students-payers. And our payers reimburse approximately 40% of the funds spent on their education. If they paid the full price, it would be unaffordable. Higher education is becoming almost universal in our country. And the state has the right to demand appropriate work. Especially from those who studied at the expense of budget funds,” the official said.

According to Siarheyenka, it is also planned to increase the period of working under assignment for public sector employees.
