Reports of MAZ bus fires continue to emerge from Russia.
On 3 January, the azure-blue Belarusian MAZ went up in flames again in St Petersburg. The burning bus was caught on video on Rustaveli Street.
According to Fontanka, the bus belongs to the Domtransavto transport company. The driver put out the fire himself and the emergency services were not called.
The company said that there had been an ignition of exhaust fumes. There were no passengers in the bus.
There are regular reports of MAZ buses catching fire in Russia. St Petersburg has many such cases. In 2022, Domtransavto took a number of MAZs off the routes and sent a number of buses for inspection after several fires. In 2023, the city temporarily suspended the operation of MAZ buses due to numerous fires.
