Kremlin's Plan To Protect Aviation Failed

Russia is letting more and more Ukrainian drones through.

Russia is letting more and more Ukrainian drones through. They are already reaching those objects that are especially valuable for the occupiers.

Military analyst Yan Matveyev told Channel 24 about this, noting that regular explosions in Russia clearly demonstrate that Russia has problems with air defense. They cannot block everything.

As Matveyev noted, Russia does not have a huge fleet of air defense systems. A significant number were transferred for the war against Ukraine. In addition, Putin is also afraid for his residences, so various air defense systems are also deployed there. Add to this the large territory — and it becomes clear why Russia is unable to protect itself from attacks.

Ukrainian drones are now breaking through not only for shallow strikes on Russia. There have even been attacks on a plant in Tatarstan. They also have to maintain air defense there.

“They also had a plan to move the planes to distant airfields. So that the drones would enter the air defense zone not near the planes, but on their way to them. The calculation was as follows. The longer the drone flies, the more difficult the route, the more likely it is that it will be destroyed. But we see that this does not always work,” Matveyev said.

Strikes on various airfields or warehouses with drones are extremely difficult. This is not always possible the first time. But Ukraine continues to destroy Russian military facilities over and over again. There is hope that over time the effectiveness of such strikes will be even better. It is clear that Putin's plan to protect aviation and other facilities is failing.

“Russia is failing to protect oil depots, oil refineries, warehouses, or airfields. At this rate, they will not be able to do this until the end of the war. And it may well be that in the future not only drones will fly in, but also missiles,” Matveyev noted.
