400 hectares of forest in the north of Kharkiv region have been liberated from occupiers.
GUR (Ukrainian Defence Intelligence) troops have carried out a successful operation to liberate a forest area located north of the settlement of Liptsy in the Kharkiv region.
The GUR reported this on Wednesday, October 16.
The active action units of the GUR – Artan, Kraken and the International Legion – completed the task.
"The result of the planned and bold actions of the Ukrainian intelligence officers is the capture of a battalion defence area of the enemy, the destruction of 3 motorized rifle battalions, the Storm Detachment and the reconnaissance company of the 7th Separate Motorized Rifle Regiment of the 11th Army Corps of the Russian Armed Forces," the report reads.
In addition, during the assault actions, Ukrainian intelligence officers captured Russian soldiers.
The GUR noted that after clearing 400 hectares of forest, the position of the Russian army north of Liptsy has worsened and is close to hopeless.
The intelligence officers noted that the peculiarity of the operation was that it was possible to bring in the infantry of the 13th Khartiia Brigade with "incomparably low losses."
"This is an example of remarkable cooperation between professional special forces and a line unit. The successful mission of the GUR creates conditions for further ousting the Russian occupiers from the north of the Kharkiv region," the GUR added.
