Minsk Taxi Driver Received Order For Trip To Russia Which Alerted Him

  • 2.10.2024, 10:08

As it turned out, for good reason.

In Minsk, a vigilant taxi driver helped detain a courier of telephone scammers, the Ministry of Internal Affairs reported.

The taxi driver reported to the line that he had accepted an order from a foreign number for a trip from Minsk to Russia. The man assumed that the passenger was a participant in a fraudulent scheme.

At the same time, a 74-year-old Minsk resident called the police — he handed over 60 thousand dollars to a stranger, allegedly to help a relative who had been in an accident.

The operatives went out to both calls and established the circumstances of the incident.

“The taxi passenger turned out to be a 46-year-old resident of the capital, who was carrying out an assignment for telephone scammers. The day before, he found an offer of part-time work in a messenger. This was his first and last assignment. All the money was confiscated and will be returned to the victim,” the Ministry of Internal Affairs reported.

Investigators have opened a criminal case for fraud.
