The conversation took place at the Munich conference.
U.S. Vice President and Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris had demanded that Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky develop a ‘succession plan’ in case he was ‘captured [in captivity] or killed’ before Russia invaded Ukraine. This is stated in Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Bob Woodward's new book ‘War,’ excerpts from which are published by The Washington Post.
According to Woodward, the conversation between Harris and Zelensky on this topic took place at the Munich Security Conference in February 2022. At the same time, the journalist writes, the administration of current US President Joe Biden found it difficult to believe that Russian President Vladimir Putin would dare to invade. When CIA Director William Burns presented Biden with U.S. intelligence about the impending aggression, the American president called it ‘insane.’ ‘My God, now I have to deal with Russia absorbing Ukraine?’ Biden allegedly said.
