Before the US presidential election.
Iran intends to attack Israel from Iraq in the coming days, before the US presidential election, two Israeli intelligence sources told Axios.
According to the publication's interlocutors, Israel expects Iran to use a large number of drones and ballistic missiles. The commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Hossein Salami said the day before that Israel made a mistake by striking last week. According to him, Tehran's response will be “different than any scenario.”
A senior Iranian official confirmed his words, adding that Iran is planning a “decisive and painful” response, which will most likely happen before the US presidential election scheduled for November 5.
At the same time, an American official, speaking on condition of anonymity, told Axios that Washington is not sure that Iran has decided to attack Israel.
On the night of October 26, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) struck Iran. The attack, which involved about 100 Air Force aircraft, including F-35 stealth fighters, hit key Iranian missile industry plants.
