United States President-elect Donald Trump will be a real gift for Ukraine and a nightmare for Russian dictator Putin. Unlike his predecessors who unsuccessfully tried to establish friendly relations with the Kremlin, Trump has already proved that he can outsmart Putin. That's the opinion of Rebecca Koffler, a former US intelligence officer, Fox News reports.

‘A former KGB officer, Putin has perfectly mastered the art of manipulating world leaders. He has managed to fool US presidents such as Bill Clinton, George W. Bush, Barack Obama and even Joe Biden. Trump, however, is a different matter. A successful businessman known for his unparalleled negotiating skills, he will be able to counter Putin's dirty tactics effectively. ‘Putin likes to use Cold War nostalgia to try to portray the US as Russia's enemy. However, Trump, unlike other presidents, rejects these Putin's attempts,’ says Rebecca Koffler.

‘Instead of resorting to diplomatic ‘friendship’ with the Russian leader, Trump is acting decisively and uncompromisingly, applying sanctions, increasing NATO's military presence in Europe and even creating new types of military forces aimed at deterring Moscow's aggressive policies.’

‘For Ukraine, Trump's return to power is an undoubted plus. Unlike Biden's amateurish approach, which gave Putin the green light to invade Ukraine, Trump will resolutely defend Ukraine's sovereignty and seriously resist any Russian attempts to impose its will on Kyiv,’ the former US intelligence official said.
