The authorisation from the US has become a triumph for Ukraine.
The impending return of Donald Trump to the White House and the threat to cut aid to Ukraine has encouraged the President of the United States of America Joe Biden to take decisive action on the issue of assistance to the Ukrainians.
Political scientist Samuel Ramani expressed such an opinion in a column for The Telegraph. He is confident that the use of ATACMS in Kursk region will quickly improve the situation for the Ukrainian Armed Forces, and may also deter Kremlin ruler Putin from recruiting new DPRK military personnel for the war.
Ukraine will now be able to strike systematically at the Khalino military airbase in Kursk region. In addition, although the occupiers have withdrawn 90 per cent of the planes they use for glider bombing in advance, 17 airbases and 250 major military facilities remain within range of ATACMS. It remains to be seen whether the states will allow the strikes any further:
‘With Trump's inauguration approaching, the US is finally fully united around the cause of Ukraine's victory. It's a promising turnaround, but it may be kind of small and overdue for Ukraine.’
