Phone calls to Putin are a mistake.
The US allowing Ukraine to use American weapons to strike Russian territory could be a decisive moment in the war. Phone calls to Putin are a mistake.
This was stated by Polish President Andrzej Duda in comments for Reuters.
“This decision was very necessary... Russia sees that Ukraine enjoys strong support and that the West's position is unwavering and decisive. This is a very important, potentially decisive moment in this war,” Duda told reporters.
He also criticized Germany for its statement that it would not coordinate its policy with the US, and expressed disapproval of German Chancellor Olaf Scholz's phone call with Vladimir Putin.
“Germany may be looking for opportunities, as the German press indicates, to reach some kind of agreement with Russia in order to return to energy contracts and be able to buy energy resources from Russia again,” Duda said.
He called it a mistake on the international political front.
“Russia is brutally attacking Ukraine, and one of the leaders of the free world, one of the leaders of the West, a major European country, the strongest economy in Europe, is negotiating with the aggressor,” the Polish president added.
