'Shock, That's All You Need To Know About So-Called Lukashenka's Justice'

Belarusians are bewildered by the verdict against the gang of raiders.

In the Rechytsa district, five residents of Orsha were sentenced for robbing trucks in parking lots along the Brest-Homel highway.

The Charter97.org website wrote about this high-profile case: the gang was led by a criminal investigation officer of the Dokshytsy District Department of Internal Affairs and a participant in political repression, Captain Mikhail Zhirski.

The offenders in the case ranged in age from 34 to 51. The gang acted at night, the attackers wore balaclavas and used radios to communicate, the Prosecutor's Office reports.

According to the court decision, one of the previously convicted criminals got four years in prison and a fine of 2,000 rubles. Four others received "chemistry" for a period of two to four years and fines.

Belarusians reacted sharply to such a soft sentence. Here are the comments under the video from the TikTok website Charter97.org:
