Discussions on sending Western troops to Ukraine have resumed, the French newspaper Le Monde writes, citing sources.

"Discussions are ongoing between Great Britain and France regarding defence cooperation, in particular, to create a core group of allies in Europe focused on Ukraine and broader European security," the Le Monde source said.

According to the publication, the talks are "essentially secret" and have resumed in recent weeks, in particular thanks to the visit to France of British Prime Minister Keir Starmer on November 11.

The reason for this was Donald Trump's victory in the US elections.
