A terrorist attack cannot be ruled out.
The Lithuanian Security Service is currently refraining from making specific assumptions about the causes of the cargo plane crash over Vilnius, but is not ruling out any versions, including terrorism, LRT reports.
After a meeting with the country's president on the incident, Darius Jauniškis, head of the State Security Department, noted that the agency is currently refraining from making specific versions.
"The investigation will probably be long, there is a lot of work to do. From what we know now, it is too early to talk about specific versions... I think that over time we will have answers to all the questions," he said.
After clarifying questions, Jauniškis said that a terrorist attack cannot be ruled out.
"We were warned that such things could happen in the future. We see that Russia is becoming more aggressive... This version cannot be ruled out. However, it is impossible to talk about any specific involvement now, because there is no such information,” the head of VSD noted.
The head of counterintelligence added that the service is exchanging information about the incident with foreign partners.
