Ukrainian Forces Defeat Powerful Mechanized Assault By Russia Near Chasiv Yar

During fierce fighting in the area of Chasiv Yar, the Ukrainian Armed Forces destroyed eight Russian airborne combat vehicles (BMDs). This was reported by the Telegram channel “Ukraine 365”.

As it became known, the 98th Airborne Division of Russia attacked Ukrainian positions on ten BMDs. However, only one vehicle managed to break through the defense, the rest were stopped, of which eight were destroyed along with the infantry.

The published video shows the aftermath of the assault: destroyed BMD-4s, some of which had their entire upper hull torn off by the explosion, as well as the remains of the landing force around.

The events took place in the vicinity of the city of Chasiv Yar in the Donetsk region. This was confirmed by analyst @giK1893, who studied the footage and geolocation of the destroyed equipment via Google Maps.

The fighting for Chasiv Yar has been ongoing since early April 2024. During this time, Russian troops managed to advance several kilometers. In July, the enemy captured the Kanal microdistrict on the left bank of the Seversky Donets, and in August, crossed the canal.

In recent weeks, Russian forces have stepped up their assaults on the city, combining mechanized attacks with the actions of small infantry groups that are trying to penetrate the rear of the Ukrainian defense.

According to fighters of the 24th brigade defending Chasiv Yar, despite significant pressure from the enemy, Ukrainian units maintain control over the city and continue to destroy enemy equipment and manpower. For ethical reasons, scenes with enemy bodies are not published in the materials, but videos of destroyed equipment are available on the Telegram channel “Operational Armed Forces of Ukraine”.
