Russia's South Group Of Forces Commander Was Changed

The previous one lied to his superiors.

The Russian military command has appointed Lieutenant General Aleksandr Sanchik as acting commander of the South Group of Forces. His predecessor was Gennady Anashkin, who held this position since May 2024.

Russian RBC reports that the corresponding decision was made as part of a planned rotation. But milbloggers and propagandists suggest that the reason for the personnel changes may be the situation in the northern direction and Anashkin's reluctance to "bring the current state of affairs to the highest command."

Today, the South Group of Forces is conducting an offensive in the direction of the city of Kurakhove in the Donetsk region.
