The Bundeswehr Blames Russia For DHL Plane Crash In Lithuania

A similar situation has already happened.

The crash of a DHL cargo plane in Lithuania could be a kind of “test” on the part of Russia to “identify weak points”, Bundeswehr Inspector General Carsten Breuer said on ARD, as quoted by the newspaper Die Welt.

“We have already encountered a similar situation this summer, and now there has been an incident that somehow fits into this model,” the inspector said. According to him, Russian President Vladimir Putin is creating a situation “that is no longer quite peace, but not yet war” in order to test how far he can go.

A DHL Boeing 737-800 crashed last Monday near Vilnius Airport. There were four people on board — two pilots and two passengers. One person died in the crash. The aircraft crashed near an apartment building.

Earlier, The New York Times sources warned that Russia could organize a large number of sabotage operations in Europe and carry out attacks on US military bases and their allies in response to Ukraine being allowed to fire long-range Western weapons at Russian territory.

Previously, electric massagers with a flammable magnesium-based substance inside caught fire at DHL warehouses in the UK and Germany. In particular, one of the fires occurred at Leipzig Airport. The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) sources in Western intelligence agencies linked these incidents to the actions of the Main Intelligence Directorate (GRU) of the Russian Defense Ministry, which, in their opinion, was preparing sabotage operations in the EU.

At the same time, WSJ interlocutors noted that if one of the sabotage operations by the Russian special services leads to an air crash, this could provoke a serious escalation of the conflict between Russia and the West. They also admitted that they have no information on whether the GRU operations were coordinated with the Kremlin.
