The number of political prisoners in Belarus may reach 10 thousand people.
On November 28, the head of the EP delegation for relations with Belarus Malgorzata Gosiewska made a speech at the plenary session of the European Parliament in Strasbourg in support of the political prisoner, activist of the ‘European Belarus’ civil campaign Palina Sharenda-Panasiuk, reports the correspondent of the Charter97.org website:
- The number of political prisoners in Belarus is growing every day, and may already reach 10 thousand.
Palina Sharenda-Panasiuk is among them, being one of the most persecuted activists of the Belarusian opposition, brutally arrested in front of her four-year-old son on January 3, 2021.
She has been diagnosed with chronic pancreatitis, which is a death sentence in prison conditions without medical care.
I call on the international community to take immediate action to release Palina Sharenda-Panasiuk and all political prisoners!
