Georgian Ambassador to Bulgaria Otar Berdzenishvili resigns over disruption of European integration. This is the first case of resignation in protest against the actions of the Georgian authorities.

This is reported by RBC-Ukraine with reference to Berdzenishvili on X (Twitter).

The Georgian diplomat noted that he, along with other colleagues, actively participated in the process of Euro-Atlantic and European integration of Georgia for two decades.

‘Our tireless efforts should not be blown up or compromised in any way,’ Berdenishvili wrote.

The diplomat supported the protests in Georgia. Berdenishvili added a hashtag against violence towards peaceful protesters to his social media post.

On Thursday, November 28, Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze announced that the country refuses to start negotiations on joining the European Union. They have been postponed until the end of 2028.

Also, the Georgian government refused any financial assistance from the European Union.

After the Georgian prime minister's statement, protests accompanied by clashes broke out in Tbilisi.
