Lithuania Is Considering Banning Belarusian Citizens From Military Service

Amendments to the law on military service have been registered in Lithuania. They suggest that persons holding citizenship of countries to which the government has banned travel will not be allowed to perform professional military service, serve in the Volunteer Forces of the Armed Forces, or perform other forms of voluntary or compulsory military service. LRT reported.
Such countries currently include Russia, Belarus, and China. The amendments were prepared by Defence Minister Laurynas Kasčiūnas together with the Seimas Committee on National Security and Defence.
They also suggest that Lithuanian citizens who have received citizenship in these countries will be dismissed from service.
The amendments are yet to be reviewed by the Seimas.
