Harris is ahead of his rival by 4%.

The presidential elections in the USA will begin today, November 5. As usual, representatives of the Republican and Democratic parties will compete for the presidential seat.

A woman may occupy the White House for the first time in US history.

On the eve of the elections, several US agencies (NPR, PBS News and Marist College) conducted a poll among Americans regarding the future head of the country, reports Dialog.UA.

The latest poll showed that 51% of Americans are ready to vote for Harris and 47% for Trump. Another 2% have not yet decided who they will vote for. The most interesting thing is that almost a month ago a similar poll showed the following figures: 50% are ready to vote for Harris and 48% for Trump.

The poll also showed that African Americans are ready to vote for Harris, and "white" voters are ready to vote for Trump.

At the same time, 49% are sure that Trump will win anyway, and 46% still believe that Harris will be able to become the first female president of the United States.

In the United States, the election of the head of the country has traditionally been held on the first Tuesday of November. The most unpredictable votes are in 7 states (Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Michigan, Wisconsin, Georgia, Arizona and Nevada), where there is no clear support for Harris or Trump.

Today, Americans will choose not only the head of the White House but also congressmen. 34 senators out of 100 and 435 deputies to the House of Representatives will be elected.

The latter are elected for a term of two years, and the Democrats want to change the situation there in their favour. Senators are elected for a term of 6 years.

According to the American press, almost 75 million voted early before November 2. According to experts, 244 million Americans will be allowed to vote.
