Thousands of people have come out to protests in the city of Novi Sad in Serbia over the collapse of a canopy at a railway station that killed 14 people, Danas portal reported.

According to the portal, the protests started at 18:00 (20:00 Minsk time). The protesters demand the resignation of Prime Minister Milos Vucevic and Novi Sad Mayor Milan Djuric, as well as the arrest of all persons, who, in their opinion, are responsible for the incident.

By the end of the week, protests with the same demands will be held in Belgrade.

The matter concerns the collapse of a canopy at the Novi Sad railway station in the morning of November 1. Fourteen people died, including a six-year-old child, while three people were injured and are in hospital.

The Blic newspaper wrote that the old canopy of the railway station, which had not been repaired for a long time, collapsed. The newspaper noted that the fallen structure was more than 60 years old.
