The US President-elect also confirmed his conversation with Zelensky.

US President-elect Donald Trump admits having a conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin. He said this in an interview with NBC, responding to a relevant question.

‘I think we will talk,’ he said.

Trump also confirmed his conversation with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, but did not disclose the details. Zelensky earlier said he had a ‘great’ conversation with Trump on the phone, congratulating the latter on his victory.

Vladimir Putin, speaking at a meeting of the Valdai discussion club on Thursday, decided to congratulate Trump on his victory.

‘I take this opportunity, I want to congratulate him on his election as President of the United States. As I have already said, we will work with any head of state who is trusted by the American people. This will be true in practice,’ he said.

Putin added that he did not know what Trump, for whom this is the last presidential term, would do, but noted that ‘what was said about the desire to restore relations with Russia, to contribute to the end of the Ukrainian crisis, in my opinion, it deserves attention at the very least.’ Putin is also willing to have a chat with Trump.

‘I don't consider it shameful on my part to call him either. I just don't do it, because the leaders of Western countries from some stage, were calling me almost every week, and then suddenly stopped. Well, they don't want to - and that's fine. As you can see, we are alive and well, developing, moving forward. If any of them want to resume contact, I have always said and I want to say again - we have nothing against it, and we will resume contacts and have discussions,’ Putin said.
