Von Der Leyen Discusses Support For Ukraine With Trump

The President of the European Commission called the conversation ‘remarkable’.

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen had a telephone conversation with newly elected US President Donald Trump, during which the two sides discussed defence and Ukraine.

‘Remarkable phone conversation with Donald Trump today to congratulate him on his election victory,’ she wrote on Х social network.

The European Commission president said she looked forward to strengthening EU-US ties and working together to tackle geopolitical challenges.

‘We discussed defence and Ukraine, trade and energy. Together we can promote prosperity and stability on both sides of the Atlantic,’ she said.
