Shocking Verdict In MIA Capitan's Balaclavas Gang Case

Almost all the robbers were released for "house arrest".

In the Rechytsa district, five residents of Orsha were sentenced, they robbed trucks in parking lots along the Brest-Homel highway, writes Nasha Niva.

The Charter97.org website wrote about this high-profile case: the gang was led by an employee of the criminal investigation department of the Dokshitsky District Department of Internal Affairs and a participant in political repression, Captain Mikhail Zhirski.

The criminals in the case ranged in age from 34 to 51. The gang operated at night, the perpetrators wore balaclavas and used radios for communication, the Prosecutor's Office reports.

The criminals broke the locks on the trucks and stole goods. They operated in the Homel and Minsk regions in March and April 2024. The total damage amounted to more than 25,000 rubles. The gang members sold the stolen goods in Russia or share them among themselves.

According to the court's decision, one of the previously convicted criminals was sentenced to four years in a high-security prison and a fine of 2,000 rubles. Four others were sentenced to open-type correctional facilities for two to four years and fines.

The leader of the group, criminal investigation officer Zhirski, was tried separately and got a huge sentence.
