At the same time, opponents of the Georgian Dream are gathering outside the Georgian parliament building. Also, the current president, Zurabishvili, appeared on the territory near the parliament and was heading to the presidential residence.
Special forces and additional security forces have already been mobilized near the Georgian Parliament. The Georgian Parliament Palace is under yellow security, with restricted entry for visitors.
On December 12, Georgia's opposition parties announced that they would not recognize the presidential elections scheduled for December 14. This was stated in a joint statement by the parties Coalition for Change, Unity - National Movement, Strong Georgia, and Gakharia for Georgia.
The Georgian Parliament has scheduled the presidential elections for December 14. For the first time, they are to be held indirectly - not by the people, but by an electoral college consisting of 300 people - all members of the Georgian Parliament and the highest representative bodies of the self-proclaimed Abkhaz and Adjara "republics".
The presidential inauguration is scheduled for December 29.
