The 'noose' tightens around Russians near Zeleny Shlyakh
In early October, the Russian army began its counteroffensive in the Kursk region to drive the Armed Forces of Ukraine out of the territory of the Russian Federation by the end of 2024.
It is incredible, but the Ukrainian brigades in the Kursk region, which are inferior in weapons, are not just holding on - on Wednesday they managed to organize a counterattack, writes Forbes.
Tanks of at least three units (the 17th, 21st and 80th brigades) of the Ukrainian Armed Forces advanced on the southern outskirts of Darino.
Most likely, the fighters from the 21st brigade threw one of their Leopard 2A6 tanks into the battle. They were joined by T-64 and T-72 tanks from the 17th mechanized brigade.
One of the enemy drones attacked a Leopard 2A6. The footage shows Ukrainian soldiers leaving the burning vehicle.
Soldiers from the 80th Brigade managed to destroy two enemy BMD armored vehicles at once, which could have belonged to the 83rd Airborne Brigade.
Ignoring the serious losses, Putin sends assault groups one after another along the road through Zeleny Shlyakh. The water obstacles stretching between Darino and Zeleny Shlyakh limit the maneuvering space of enemy troops.
If the Ukrainians can hold Darino, they will be able to block secondary attack routes for the attacking enemies and then direct them to the kill zone around Zeleny Shlyakh.
Experts say that the main thing is not to overestimate the success of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the counterattack in the Darino area. It is possible that the Ukrainian forces advanced only a few meters and did not consolidate their new positions. However, the main advantage is that the Ukrainian Armed Forces are not only defending themselves, but also counterattacking.
By going on the attack, albeit briefly and on a small scale, the Ukrainian forces have thrown down another challenge to Putin's army.
