Putin is not going to meet with the escaped dictator.
Meeting dictator Bashar al-Assad, who fled Syria to Russia, is not on Putin's official schedule. This was stated by spokesman Dmitry Peskov, RBC correspondent reports.
‘There is no such meeting on Putin's official schedule. As to Mr Assad's whereabouts, there is nothing to tell you now. Of course, such decisions cannot be made without the head of state, and this is his decision,‘ he said when asked about Putin's plans to meet with Assad amid reports on the dictator's arrival.
Assad left the country by plane after Syrian rebels seized Damascus on December 8. Russian media reported that he arrived with his family in Moscow and Russia granted him asylum.
