The Warsaw police detained a 23-year-old young man, suspected of attacking a 25-year-old Belarusian woman with a knife and raping her. The maimed woman is now in intensive care.
Police officers arrived at the scene a few minutes after the unconscious naked woman was found on the stairs by the building caretaker. They called an ambulance and administered first aid to the injured woman before it arrived.
The brutality of the crime made finding and arresting the perpetrator a priority for all police officers involved in the case.
The 23-year-old guy was tracked down and captured when he was leaving the house where he was renting a flat. He was so exhausted that he did not resist. While searching the premises where the suspect lived, police found and seized, among other things, a large kitchen knife and a balaclava, which were used to commit the offence. It is already known that the attacker took two mobile phones, several payment cards and the wallet of the victim. All these items were seized by the police.
During the investigation, the suspect was charged with robbery, sexual offence and attempted murder with a dangerous weapon. According to the Polish Criminal Code, the man now faces up to 25 years or even life imprisonment for these offences.
