Believers submitted an application to the executive committee.
In Baranavichy, the authorities did not approve the application of Catholic believers to hold a city religious procession on March 17, Katholic.life reported.
According to tradition, the religious procession in Baranavichy is held in the fifth week of Lent. This year it was supposed to take place on March 17. Believers submitted an application to the executive committee, but the authorities did not approve it.
The reason for the refusal is not reported. According to unofficial information, this decision may be due to the fact that this year the religious procession fell on the Sunday before the Orthodox Lent, when Maslenitsa is traditionally celebrated.
The authorities may not have agreed on the proposed route of the procession due to the Maslenitsa festivities that will be held in the city during the day.
“Obviously, there is no longer enough time to plan a different route and submit a new application,” writes katolik.life.
