An important highway is under threat.

The water level in the Ishim River continues to increase, the governor of Tyumen region of the Russian Federation Aleksandr Moor said on his Telegram channel.

‘The water level in the Ishim River is not decreasing. It even increased due to yesterday's rains. The historical maximum of 1215 cm has been reached. The water is already above the asphalt in some places, but the embankment saves the motorway from overflow. Emergency Situations Ministry employees are constantly reinforcing it. The road services work round the clock,’ the message reads.

As specified by the head of the region, works are carried out on the Tyumen-Omsk federal motorway, near the village of Abatskoye, to strengthen the slopes of the road and the embankment that protects it from flooding.

‘There is reverse traffic on the motorway, because of this serious congestion is accumulating. According to information from the traffic police, the traffic jam totals 60 kilometres on both sides,’ the governor added.

We remind you that Abatsky district was flooded in Tyumen region, emergency evacuation was announced in the village of Abatskoye and several other settlements.
