Blinken: Putin's Plans Failed

‘There has been aggression not only against Ukraine.’
US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken has said that Russian dictator Vladimir Putin's initial plans for war in Ukraine have failed.
This is reported by The Guardian.
‘By effectively uniting many countries, we helped the incredibly courageous Ukrainians repel aggression, and now it's an ongoing effort and an ongoing fight, but the plans that Vladimir Putin had for Ukraine to wipe it off the map, to incorporate it into Russia, no longer exist. That has failed,’ Blinken said at the World Economic Forum in Riyadh.
He said many countries, both in Europe and beyond, have united recognising that ‘there has been aggression not only against Ukraine, but against some of the fundamental principles of the international system’.
‘And if we had left that challenge unpunished, it's likely that potential aggressors around the world would have taken it into account, and we would have had a world where there would be more conflict, not less,' the US Secretary of State added."
Blinken also added that now there is an alliance in Europe that is ‘stronger, bigger than it was.’
‘And I think we have a plan that will allow Ukraine to become a successful country over time. A strong country: militarily, economically, democratically,’ he emphasised.
