Ilya Vityuk got involved in a scandal.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has signed a decree dismissing the head of the SSU cyber security department, Ilya Vityuk, whose wife bought a flat for more than 20 million hryvnias during the war. The corresponding decree is posted on the website of the Office of the President on Wednesday, May 1.
‘To dismiss Ilya Vityuk from the post of head of the Department of counterintelligence protection of state interests in the sphere of information security of the security service of Ukraine,’ stated the text of the decree.
We remind you, in early April, investigative journalists of ‘Investigation.Info’ found a premium-class flat of almost 200 square metres bought by Vityuk's woman in December 2023. The market value of such housing is more than 20 million hryvnias.
Subsequently, the publication reported that they tried to hand a summons to a journalist of the publication in a supermarket in Kyiv on the probable instructions of the suspected SSU employee. The editorial board believes that in this way the special servicemen wanted to punish the investigator who exposed Vityuk's elite property.
Following this incident, AFU commander-in-chief Oleksandr Syrsky instructed to conduct an official check. The Prosecutor-General's Office launched criminal proceedings.
