Lithuania Is Ready To Send Troops To Ukraine

  • 8.05.2024, 12:34

Vilnius is waiting for Kyiv's request.

The Lithuanian Parliament allowed the country's troops to be sent to Ukraine to train Ukrainian soldiers, but no such request has yet been received from Kyiv, Prime Minister of the Baltic Republic Ingrida Šimonytė told Financial times.

According to her, Moscow may consider such a move by Vilnius a provocation, but the Lithuanian authorities are not going to pay attention to it. “If we were just thinking about Russia's response, we wouldn't be able to send anyone. Every other week you hear that someone will be subjected to a nuclear strike,” Šimonytė added.

For the first time, French President Emmanuel Macron allowed the sending of troops to Ukraine at the end of February. Against the background of the discussion that arose in the West after that, Lithuania announced that the "red lines" in this matter had been abolished.
