What Is Known About Su-34
The Su-34 is a Russian modernisation of the Su-27 fighter. The plane has been in mass production since 2008. It was created to replace the Su-24 bomber. The development of the Su-34 began in the USSR and continued in independent Russia.
The Su-34s were adopted into service with the Russian Air and Space Forces in 2014. According to the Main Intelligence Directorate, the Russian Federation has more than 100 Su-34s. For Ukraine, aerial bombs are the main threat from Su-34s. The Russians were able to improve the Soviet inaccurate bombs by integrating a planning and correction module. It is known that the occupiers manufacture the sets for such bombs:
FAB-500 - fragmentation-fugitive warhead;
KAB-500 - cluster warhead;
ODAB-500 - volumetric detonating warhead;
